REVIEW
You play this game as a girl, here name's Asha. There's one town in the game with 4 gates to 4 different places in Monster World. Each portal can be opened with a medallion which are located somewhere in the town.
During the game your pet will help you. He's blue and looks like a fat flying (he flies with his ears!) Pikachu. He can press buttons, fly and do many other things. Of course you can also buy equipment in the town. During the game you'll find several items, they must be used inside the dungeons/levels.
Monster World IV is a great release. It's to bad that I can't read the screen text. They game play is faster then Wonder Boy in Monster World. You can also run in this game. Also new is that the character fends of some attacks automatically. The graphics and music are similar to the previous Wonder Boy release. I still think Wonder Boy in Monster World is better because Monster World IV is to linear. Brief translations or a story line are very welcome, and would make me very happy.

CONTROLS
Left/Right
Press left or right twice and then hold down that button to run.
Down
Shield and leave houses.
Up
Talk and enter houses.
Button-B
Attack, press the D-button down while making a jump and then press B to attack enemies from above. You can also press up and B while making a jump.
Button-C
Jump. Hold Down and press C to jump on a lower platform.
Button-A
Call your pet. Hold down this button to hold him above your head. Jump and then press the jump button again to perform a double jump. Press the button A again to throw him forward.
STARTING YOUR JOURNEY
The game starts in your home town. Enter the first house and talk to the lady. A chest will now appear with a life potion. Go to the left where you'll find another chest with a blue crystal. Talk to some villagers and cows!? if you want and talk to the old man in the blue outfit, he will save your game. Now leave the town. On your way you'll find several blue leaves (or whatever they are). You get an extra heart every time you've collected 10 of these leaves. When you've reached the statue, stand in front of it, call up the equipment window and select the crystal (remember that you have to use all your items this way). A tower will now appear. There are 2 locked doors in this tower. You can unlock them with keys. Sometimes new things will appear after you've defeated several enemies. After defeating the boss, open the chest to get the lamp. Select it and a genie will appear, he will take you to Monster World.
THE TOWN
This is the only town in the game. After completing a level you will return to this town. First go to the castle, talk to the soldiers and they will let you pass. Now make your way to the queen and talk to her. After that, search in the castle for a treasure room. Here you'll find gold a medallion and an egg. Leave the castle and go to the statue, stand in front of it and select your egg. A little creature will get out of the egg, he will help you on your journey. You can also restore your hearts by pressing up in front of the statue. Now enter some shops and buy some equipment. When you're ready to leave the town, go to the left, enter the house at the left end and open the first portal by selecting the medallion. In the middle of the town is a tower, after you have completed a level, you can find a medallion there. Another thing which is important is the apple tree in the garden of the castle (enter the castle wall and go left). Go there after completing a level and press up in front of tree to shake the tree. The apple will fall on the ground and your pet will eat it. He will grow in size every time he eats an apple. You can also try to sell your gold bars to the rich lady in this town.
THE VOLCANO
Some of the entrances are blocked with stones, use your bombs to blow them up.
Use your pet on many creative ways in this level. Let him press buttons with his tongue, throw him on a lava fountain or a geyser so you can use him as a platform. Carrying him above your head will protect you from falling bricks.
THE WATER TEMPLE
There's one pillar in the temple which isn't reflected in the water. Go stand beyond it and then hold the D-button down and press C.
In this level you'll find several torches and camp fires. Your pet can blow out the torches. For the camp fire you need a bucket filled with water.
Somewhere in this level there's a sleeping man, throw water over him to wake him up. He will tell you a secret about the 5 torches in the room to the left. You have to blow out the 2nd torch and the 4th torch to make a hole appear in that room.
THE FROZEN PYRAMID
To open the doors in the first part of the pyramid you have to enter a secret code.
Red: A,B,C,B
Blue: B,A,A,C
Gray: A,C,A,A,A,C
White: C,A,C,C,C,A
In each part of the pyramid you have to find 5 statues and install them in the correct order.
Part 1: Turtle - Hound - Owl - Bird - Angle
Part 2: Bird - Angle - Owl - Hound - Turtle
Part 3: Owl - Angle - Turtle - Bird - HoundIn the second part you have to throw your pet, he'll search for secret doors. To reach the higher doors in this part of the pyramid, freeze your pet and he will turn into a block of ice.
To enter the 3th part of the pyramid you have to answer all the 10 questions of the sphinx correctly. Every time you've answered a question wrong, the platform will disappear and you will fall on the spiky ice crystal. Go to the waterfall in the left under corner and press up to let the platform reappear. If you're using an emulator then I suggest to save before every question.
THE LAST STAGES
After completing the ice world visit the villager in the house left from the man who sells armors. After that return to castle where you have to fight the queen. There aren't many puzzles in the rest of the game. Try to defeat all the enemies when you're stuck. Inside the cave you can shatter the blocks with your sword.
